Hands-On With the Upcoming HarmonyOS Smart TV

In the 2025 Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) held recently, we got an early look at a HarmonyOS flagship TV that has not yet been officially released. Powered by the HarmonyOS operating system, this smart TV is expanding the way smart TVs are used in home scenarios through multi-device collaboration, family interaction, and personalized content.

The new smart TV supports 'App Continuation', enabling seamless task transfer between smartphones and TVs. For instance, users can switch their music playback to the large screen after bringing their phone near the TV, enhancing the collaborative experience across multiple devices.

For household multi-user scenarios, Huawei introduced an 'AI Face Recognition' feature on the TV. Leveraging local visual and voiceprint recognition, it provides differentiated content display and operation permissions for different users. This feature supports personalized content recommendations and assists parents in controlling children's viewing time, improving usability management efficiency.

In terms of communication capabilities, this smart TV supports 4K resolution video calls and features a person-tracking function. To address potential difficulties older users might face with large-screen devices, the TV also includes a remote assistance feature, allowing family members to guide and control the device remotely via their phones.

In its user interface design, the new product continues HarmonyOS's design language, supporting 'Lingxi Pointer' interaction. It optimizes the large-screen experience through card-style desktops and immersive animations. Coupled with various lightweight interactive features and visual effects, it enhances the fun and intuitiveness of daily use.

Additionally, the TV supports 'Floating Touch'. Users can operate the TV using a separate floating controller for sliding and clicking, supported by haptic feedback, which supplements interactions for gaming scenarios.

This combination of excellent interaction logic, seamless connectivity among HarmonyOS devices, and customized TV content for each family member makes this HarmonyOS Smart TV likely to be more popular among users.
