Accelerated Evolution was founded in June 2023 by Cheng Hao, a former executive at ByteDance who holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from Tsinghua University. The company's Chief Scientist is Zhao Mingguo, a researcher at the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, and Director of the Brain-inspired Robotics Center within the Robot Control Laboratory and Unmanned Systems Center. Over the past 20 years, Zhao has focused on legged biomimetic robots, brain-inspired robotics, and system research.
In terms of products, Accelerated Evolution has launched the Booster T1 bipedal humanoid robot. Standing 1.1 meters tall and weighing 29 kilograms, it is equipped with an end-to-end full-body motion foundation model capable of performing complex actions such as playing soccer, doing push-ups, and executing the 'Yip Man squat.' It can also adapt to various complex terrains and serves as a technical validation platform in numerous robotics competitions.
At the recently concluded 2025 RoboCup Robot Soccer World Cup, Tsinghua's 'Vulcan Team,' supported by Accelerated Evolution, won the championship in the adult-sized humanoid category. This marks the first time a Chinese team has claimed gold in the most prestigious adult division since the inception of RoboCup 28 years ago. Notably, the champion, runner-up, and third-place teams all utilized Accelerated Evolution's products, with Germany's HTWK using the Accelerated Evolution K1 to win the small-size category championship.
The Accelerated Evolution Booster T1 is designed specifically for developers, featuring characteristics of being lightweight, agile, durable, and drop-resistant. The robot supports omnidirectional walking, self-righting after falls, kicking, and walking disturbance rejection. Its joints employ quasi-direct drive force control and support various types of motion control algorithms, providing developers with efficient and user-friendly development tools.
On the commercialization front, company data shows that since mass production and delivery of the Booster T1 began last October, Accelerated Evolution has cumulatively delivered hundreds of humanoid robots, with over 50% of these orders coming from global clients.
Earlier, Accelerated Evolution CEO Cheng Hao stated regarding the football competition that the event economy combining technology and sports is becoming a key driver for humanoid robot technology development, promoting comprehensive advancements in industry brains, cerebellums, and hardware. Furthermore, robot soccer matches represent a move away from demos and remote controls, transparently showcasing embodied AI technology to the public, marking the first step in landing Accelerated Evolution's end-to-end motion foundation model in embodied AI scenarios.
