1. Unitree Robotics Launches IPO
On July 18, the official website of the China Securities Regulatory Commission showed that Unitree Technology disclosed its辅导备案报告 (counseling filing report) for the initial public offering and listing, with CITIC Securities serving as the counseling institution. According to the counseling filing report, the controlling shareholder and actual controller of Unitree Technology is Wang Xingxing, who directly holds 23.8216% of the company's equity and controls an additional 10.9414% through Shanghai Yuyi Enterprise Management Consulting Partnership (Limited Partnership), totaling a controlled stake of 34.7630%. Additionally, the counseling institution will conduct a comprehensive assessment of whether Unitree Technology meets the conditions for issuance and listing as early as October 2025, and assist the company in preparing the application documents for the IPO and listing in accordance with relevant regulations.
As early as June 19, Unitree Robotics announced the completion of its Series C funding round, which was launched late last year, with a scale close to 700 million yuan. The round was co-led by funds under China Mobile, Tencent, Jinqiu (ByteDance-affiliated fund), Alibaba, Ant Group, and Geely Capital, while most of Unitree's existing shareholders participated in follow-on investments.
According to Wang Xingxing's earlier disclosure at the Summer Davos Forum, Unitree Robotics' annual revenue has exceeded 1 billion yuan, with approximately one thousand employees, and it has achieved profitability for five consecutive years since 2020.
2. UBTECH Robotics wins nearly 100 million yuan in orders; releases the world's first humanoid robot Walker S2 capable of autonomous battery swapping
According to the 'Robot Equipment Procurement Project Winning Bid Announcement' released by the China Bidding and Tendering Public Service Platform on July 18, UBTECH Robotics won a robot equipment procurement project worth 90.5115 million yuan from MiYi (Shanghai) Automotive Technology Co., Ltd., which is currently the largest procurement order for humanoid robot companies globally.
In addition, UBTECH released the Walker S2, the world's first humanoid robot capable of autonomous battery swapping, on July 17. According to the introduction, its humanoid robot hot-swappable autonomous battery swapping system features three core technological highlights, including:
Original dual-battery power balance technology: Through real-time battery capacity monitoring and dynamic electrical energy balancing technology, it achieves simultaneous charging and discharging of the dual batteries, seamless switching during battery replacement, supports hot-swappable batteries while preventing surge current and arcing, thereby ensuring the safe, stable, and continuous operation of humanoid robots. Standardized battery compartment quick-swap technology: Designed with standardized battery modules and zero-gap split-compartment structures, not only allowing batteries as energy components to be quickly and freely replaced, but also making them an integral part of the robot's body structure. It adopts a self-positioning clamping method to unlock the battery compartment, flexibly switching between dual-battery endurance mode and single-battery working mode. Dual-arm collaborative precise battery swapping technology: The humanoid robot, through dual-arm collaboration, utilizes its own positioning accuracy and compliant control algorithms to achieve precise alignment between the battery and the compartment.
It is reported that UBTECH plans to deliver 500 industrial humanoid robots this year for the smart manufacturing industry. UBTECH also officially announced on July 13 that its Tiangong Xingzhe robot, designed for scientific research and education, has received orders for over a hundred units, with deliveries expected to exceed 300 units this year.
3. Zhiyuan Robotics Secures Strategic Investment from Zhengda Robotics
Recently, Zhiyuan Robot completed a new round of strategic financing, receiving investment support from Zhengda Robot, a subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand Group. In the future, the Charoen Pokphand Group will assist Zhiyuan Robot in exploring and developing full-scenario business applications in vertical fields such as life sciences, new retail, new consumption, and elderly care services, providing broader commercialization opportunities for Zhiyuan Robot and accelerating product adaptation to different market scenarios.
Looking back, Zhiyuan Robotics has secured multiple rounds of financing this year. In May, the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System showed that JD.com and the Shanghai Embodied AI Fund participated in Zhiyuan Robotics' new round of financing, with old shareholders including Sequoia Capital, SAIC Venture Capital, and TCL over-subscribing their investments. Prior to this, Zhiyuan Robotics had completed a funding round led by Tencent. This round also involved follow-on investments from various industrial partners and old shareholders, including Longqi Technology, Wolong Electric Drive, Huafa Group, and BlueRun Ventures. Additionally, on the evening of July 8, Shangwei New Materials announced that Zhiyuan Robotics intended to acquire control of the company through an equity holding platform jointly established by the company and its core team, via agreement transfer and tender offer. Upon completion of this equity transaction, the controlling shareholder of Shangwei New Materials will change to Shanghai Zhiyuan Hengyue Technology Partnership (Limited Partnership), a entity jointly held by Zhiyuan Robotics and its management team, and the actual controller will change to Deng Taihua.
**4. Langyi Robotics Announces Completion of Tens of Millions of Yuan in Angel Round Financing
On July 14, Langyi Robotics announced the completion of a tens-of-millions-yuan angel round investment led by InnoAngel Fund, with Jiaodao Capital participating as a co-investor and existing shareholder Qiji Chuangtan continuing to increase its stake.
It is reported that the funds from this round will be mainly used for the mass production and technological upgrades of embodied navigation modules, continuous iteration and data accumulation of spatial intelligence algorithms, and ecosystem co-construction with humanoid robot manufacturers, further accelerating the large-scale implementation of robots in scenarios such as autonomous tour guidance, security inspection, industrial operations, mall services, family companionship, and elderly care.
Langyi Robotics was founded in 2020 as an enterprise primarily engaged in the manufacturing of special equipment. It focuses on the research and development of spatial intelligence technology for general-purpose robots, establishing a full-stack capability chain from perception to decision-making and execution. The company's founder and CEO, Yang Hongcheng, born in 1996, holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and studied electrical engineering at Chongqing University during his undergraduate studies.
In February this year, Langyi Robotics completed a seed funding round worth millions of yuan, invested by Qiji Chuangtan. Qiji Chuangtan was founded by Lu Qi in 2018; he previously served as Executive Vice President of Yahoo, Executive Vice President of Microsoft Global, and President and COO of Baidu.
5. OpenAI Launches New AI Agent Product 'ChatGPT Agent'
On July 18 Beijing Time, OpenAI launched a new AI agent product, "ChatGPT Agent," which possesses the ability to think and act autonomously. It can proactively select appropriate tools from its skill library, including Operator, Deep Research, and ChatGPT, to complete various super complex tasks.
According to introductions, the Agent mode can call three types of tools: text browsers, visual browsers, and terminals. The model can independently switch between these tools. Text browsers are responsible for browsing large amounts of text and searching for information, while visual browsers locate specific information to simulate keyboard and mouse interactions or read image information. Terminals can run code to generate files including PPTs and Excel spreadsheets, and call certain cloud APIs.
