Just Now: Vbot WeiTaDongLi Completes Nearly 500 Million RMB Financing, Targets Humanoid Robot R&D in Next Phase

On May 11, embodied AI company Vbot announced the completion of a Pre-A round financing totaling nearly 500 million RMB. It is reported that this round of financing represents the largest single investment deal in the consumer-grade embodied AI sector to date.

This round of financing was jointly led by Orient Jiafu, Huatai Zijin, and Fosun Rui Zheng. Shangqi Capital, under the SAIC Motor group, Minghui Zhiyuan, and other investors participated. Existing shareholders including Kaifu Fund, Today Capital, Hillhouse Venture Capital, Mapletree Capital, BV Baidu Ventures, and Borui Capital continued their investments.

The raised funds will be primarily used for large-scale mass production, sales network construction, and the research and development of next-generation humanoid robots.

As a company founded in December 2024, Vbot has completed four rounds of financing so far, three of which occurred in 2025.

In August 2025, Vbot announced the completion of its angel round financing, led by Dacheng Venture Capital, with participation from Lenovo Capital and Mapletree Capital.

In March 2025, the company completed its seed plus round financing, led by Today Capital and Kaifu Fund, with Ya Rui Capital participating. Multiple initial investors, including Hillhouse Venture Capital, Yuancheng Capital, Chuxin Capital, Borui Capital, and BV Baidu Ventures, continued to invest.

In January 2025, Vbot completed its hundred-million-yuan seed round financing, led by Horizon Robotics and Hillhouse Venture Capital, with Yuancheng Capital, Borui Capital, Baidu Ventures, and Chuxin Capital participating.

At the product level, in December last year, VTDynamics officially launched its first quadruped robot, "Big Head BoBo," to the market. The founding equity price was set at 9,988 yuan. During the limited-time pre-sale period for founding equity rights, the product accumulated an order volume of 6,540 units.

In February, during the public beta testing phase of "Big Head BoBo," Radio No. 42 explored the expandability of the robot's back panel and took it on specific tasks such as picking up food deliveries.

Last week, on May 8, "Big Head BoBo" officially began deliveries. It is reported that the initial batch of 500 units has completed mass production and is being shipped to end consumers. Over 1,500 user deliveries are expected to be completed by May, with production capacity increasing to more than 2,500 units in June.

At the founding team level, the core team of VTDynamics all have experience in the intelligent automotive sector. Founder Yu Yinan previously served as Vice President and President of the Software Platform Product Line at Horizon Robotics. Co-founder Zhao Zhelun formerly held the position of Intelligent Driving Product Director at Li Auto, while co-founder Song Wei is the former Chief Architect of the Software Platform at Horizon Robotics.

After establishing commercialization capabilities for consumer-grade quadruped robots, VTDynamics will next embark on the R&D of humanoid robots, specifically focusing on the following directions:

  • R&D of full-size embodied AI robot bodies that combine motion and task capabilities;
  • R&D of a hand-foot integrated world model covering general manipulation and mobility;
  • R&D of an Embodied AI operating system (OS) based on an Agentic OS architecture, enabling robots to support a rich application ecosystem.

Notably, in March this year, Qin Hailong, former Chief Scientist at Qianli Autonomous Driving, joined Weita Dynamics as Vice President of R&D, responsible for the development of world models, spatial intelligence, Agent OS, and humanoid robots.

In the past year within the field of embodied AI, humanoid robots have gradually moved towards mass production.

At the beginning of this year, Unitree Robotics announced that over 6,500 units of its pure humanoid robots would be produced and rolled off the assembly line in 2025, with actual shipments to end customers exceeding 5,500 units. Zhiyuan Machine announced in late March that it had cumulatively produced 10,000 units of general-purpose embodied robots. Meanwhile, Musk across the ocean also expected to officially start mass production of Optimus by late July or August.

Furthermore, many manufacturers are accelerating efforts to obtain data from real-world scenarios after deploying robots, thereby iterating through the data flywheel. In this process, some teams have already secured a leading position. Consequently, new players entering the humanoid robot field this year face significantly greater competitive pressure than last year.
